Academic Resources
Tools For Students + Transparency For Families
EBIA families should be able to understand what students are learning, where to find assignments, how to access practice tools, and where to go when they need help.
Accessing Our Curriculum
EBIA uses established, standards-aligned curricula across the core academic program. Families can learn more about the content, units, and instructional approaches through the curriculum providers’ public resources and through their student’s teacher.
English Language Arts: Fishtank ELA
Fishtank ELA provides grade-level literature, essential questions, writing tasks, research, discussion, and project-based extensions.
Mathematics: Illustrative Mathematics
Illustrative Mathematics is a problem-based curriculum focused on conceptual understanding, reasoning, mathematical communication, and application.
History: TCI History Alive!
TCI’s California History Alive! program uses inquiry, primary and secondary sources, interactive learning, discussion, and writing across the middle school history sequence.
Science: OpenSciEd
OpenSciEd is an NGSS-aligned, phenomenon-based science curriculum in which students develop explanations through investigation, evidence, modeling, and discussion.
Science: Stanford Scale
Stanford SCALE provides NGSS-aligned integrated and project-based science units that ask students to apply science and engineering practices to complex problems.
What Is My Student Learning Right Now?
Curriculum providers show the larger course sequence. For the most accurate information about the unit, text, project, assessment, or pacing your student is currently working on, families should review Google Classroom and contact the classroom teacher.
Google Classroom
Students use Google Classroom for course announcements, assignments, materials, due dates, teacher resources, and class-specific information.
IXL
EBIA uses IXL both as a practice tool and as one source of diagnostic information. IXL helps teachers identify specific skill strengths and gaps and supports the twice-weekly Intervention + Enrichment Block.
Students should complete diagnostics carefully and independently so the data accurately reflects what they know and helps teachers place them in the right support or enrichment.
Student Google Account
Students should use their EBIA Google account when accessing school platforms and assigned digital resources.
Family Communication: ParentSquare
EBIA uses ParentSquare for schoolwide and family communication, including announcements, reminders, forms, event information, and updates.
Need Academic Help?
Start with the classroom teacher. Students are encouraged to ask questions, use intervention and support opportunities, communicate when they are confused, and advocate for what they need.
Families who are unsure where to begin can contact the Main Office at info@eastbayia.org or (510) 577-9557.
